A Day At The Office

I went home with the mother of all headaches yesterday morning, you know the kind of debilitating headache that stops just short of being a full-fledged migraine only in the respect that you can still manage to remain upright, if only just? By this morning, it still hadn't fully receded, but I'm facing another deadline so I supposed I'd better show up for work again today. Wish I hadn't bothered now -- Jobsworth has been on my case all morning, and have I ever mentioned how much that man is getting on my tits? Now he's blocked my application for a couple of days off towards the end of next month, citing business needs. His business needs, not mine. All I can say at this point in time is: he's not heard the end of this. I've still got some 50 vacation days due me this year, and I'm taking (some of) them, damnit!

And yes, I know that I've just been away for a few days, but be fair, as far as work was concerned, I was only away on the Monday! ::grumble grumble::

Any road: I spent a wonderfully relaxing and sunshiny summer's day in db2305's garden last Saturday; just what every over-worked and under-appreciated corporate business manager needs once every so often. We discussed the upcoming WriterCon to which she is going, and MR04 to which I have been, and when evening fell retired to watch Why We Fight and Time Bomb followed by the Wrecked dailies. It was sheer paradise!

Unfortunately, the next day, it rained and rained. So I stayed in and wrote another (draft) application letter. I wish I could say I'm getting better at them, but I'm not.
