I've been toying with the idea of buying a home computer for some time now. I've even been making enquiries, and reading up on what's available, and have set a date for going to buy it (Sept. 5th, when Allan can come with me -- he knows about these sort of things).

But while I was away in England, something happened over here to change my mind slightly. The government cancelled, with immediate effect, the so-called Private PC Scheme. For the last two decades, it has been possible to buy a computer through work, and get a tax refund. The scheme was intended to get people PC-literate, but the equipment has to have a work-related purpose. Of course, most people just got them and then had their children play games on them. But this is not the point. The point is, that the computer chains are now stuck with surplus stock, and the expectation is, that as a result of this, prices will go down in the autumn. So, I will just have to wait a little longer, and then I can get myself a state-of-the-art computer and peripherals at knock-down prices!

That's good news, but sort of not if you have to wait.

Och! I've been dragging my heels over this so long already (about a decade), a couple of weeks moe won't hurt. Besides, I'm hatching an evil plot to make HP foot the bill for some of it, making use of a legal loophole, but I need some more information still...

Hey B, how're you doin'?

Back at work, only not today, doing well. You? Flitting to and fro over the Channel, busy girl! Thinking about boots. Dark brown with pink stitching, and the new riding boot nose. Gorgeous. Bit high for me, therefore the thinking. (6 of 7 cm).

Oooh, thinking about boots! Now there's an enjoyable pastime! (Actually, there's a thought: I should see about getting me a shoe obsesso icon one of these days).

Dark brown with pink stitching, and the new riding boot nose. Gorgeous.

They sound it. Heels a bit high? Try them on and see how tall they make you: tall and lanky? Don't bother. Tall and a knock-out? Get them!

BTW, you know what the latest thing is in London, footwear-wise? Slouch boots. They're everywhere, and mostly, on people's feet. I'll see about getting me a pair next time I'm in town.

This time, I only brought one pair of shoes back with me, though: black and white pumps with anklestraps and square toes, and killer heels (4 inch, I'm guessing). Only 30 quid in the sales! They're a bit tight up front, but I'm hoping that a month of careful stretching over feet dripping with petroleum jelly will help.

I saw the slouch boots. Tarty in pastels, great in naturals. But not for my skinny pins, darling....

Amen. And much, much nicer than those UGGs you see all around these days. As if people are stepping out with their novelty slippers still on!

Uggs are so last year...and who'd want to emulate Pamela Anderson anyway?
