They forgot to mention that (almost) the only sight I'd see would be Manchester Royal Infirmary A&E ward.

My last CoRo gig in England, and I busted up my ankle taking a dive into the club. It was dark, and there was a step there that I missed. The management were complete pricks about it and so I'm off into East Grinstead in a minute to see about putting in a compensation claim.

Tell you one thing: it's not easy travelling from place to place when you're on crutches. Scratch that: it's not easy getting around on crutches, full stop. I'm a mass of pain.

However, there is a silver lining: CoRo have promised to come back to the UK next April. By that time, I should be fully mobile again, too.

I don't know when I'll be able to get to a computer again after this -- which means I also don't know when I'll be able to give you all my report on the CoRo minitour -- sorry! But right now, I simply don't feel up to stringing two meaningful sentences on the subject together...

Meep. Get well soon, hon.
Lots of rest, ice, compression and elevation.

Thanks for the advice. I tried the ice (didn't work) but I centainly plan on getting lots of rest and elevation once I'm home. Well, the doctor said it'd take as long to heal as a fracture...

Poor you. I totally sympathise after my bankside slide which ended with the same result - crutches. (Did you know the French call them Cannes Anglais? Just a bit of useless information thrown in there.)Do as Paratti suggests. I failed to do the ice and elevation thing and took over 10 days to get fully mobile again.

As for missing Manchester - there's not a lot to miss once you've said the concert was ruined. Manchester Royal Infirmary is one of the few Victorian buildings in the city to survive the waves of redevelopment in the 1960s, 70s and 80s. My first encounter with it was the result of the stolen tricycle incident. I was 4, the getaway route was down a steep hill with railings at the bottom. Needless to say, I mis-timed the turn.

Cannes anglais? How weird...I actually met a French girl at the London CoRo gig...

And I daresay the Royal Infirmary hasn't changed a bit since your last visit there. Well, A&E certainly didn't look as if it had...

Oh, I'm so sorry! And sorry that they were so unhelpful about it too. I will use my Giles squish icon on your behalf.

I hope you're better soon! I know the pain of traveling on crutches, having done the same thing to my ankle last year.

Sending good wishes your way.

I always thought crutches were meant to be helpful little buggers...but they're not. They're horrible. They hurt my arms, I've got blisters on my hands, my shoulders are screaming with pain...on reflection, I'd say that they're even worse than the injury I sustained initially.

Yes, I know just what you mean.

I remember explaining to my boss that there was no way in hell I was going to try to take a long trip, changing planes and traveling on a subway when we got to our destination, while on crutches, to give a 20 minute presentation. She seemed to think I was being a slacker!

I hope you don't have to do too much traveling on the damn things.

Oh my poor sweetie! How awful! And that the management was terrible about it as well - bastards.

Hang in there, and I hope that you don't have to use the crutches very long. The advice from others makes sense. Rest up as soon as you can, and take care of yourself!
